Our Search Strategy
At The Marketing Underground our specialty is the recruitment of marketing, advertising, PR and sales professionals. We have an advantage over traditional headhunters because we come from the marketing world ourselves. Our strategy is simple. First, we interview our clients with the same thoroughness that we do our candidates. We walk your halls and then go out and find candidates with the perfect cultural and professional fit.

We check our contacts and database first
The Marketing Underground has long-standing relationships with marketing, advertising, PR and sales professionals worldwide. Our first approach to a search is to call individuals with whom we have been in contact over the twenty plus years of our combined marketing and search consulting experience.

While contacting these individuals we do not to divulge the name of the client until we find a candidate who is qualified, interested in the opportunity and who we believe to be a strong cultural match

Our process continues as we contact individuals to whom we are referred and determine their candidacy. Research of all relevant companies will be conducted and we will gather a listing of all individuals who currently hold similar positions in similar companies. This is considered direct sourcing. We contact these individuals and obtain information about their skills, experience and abilities. During this process, as we find individuals who have the qualifications, interest and cultural match, we begin to cultivate them as candidates for the search.

We rarely advertise or post on the internet
It is rare that we choose to advertise and it is not seen as a fruitful method of search. The Marketing Underground chooses to aggressively seek out individuals who are currently working in similar capacities and determine their interest in making a change. However we do use Internet postings in conjunction with some searches. It is often a great source for building new relationships that will then lead to direct sourcing.

We are an extension of your team
At The Marketing Underground we consider ourselves to be an extension of our client’s team. We prefer to be the coordinator who assists you in scheduling interviews and insuring the search process continues to move forward. We find that clients truly appreciate the role we play in handling all of the scheduling details. However, at any time the client finds it to be more expeditious to contact the candidate directly, this is certainly acceptable.

The Marketing Underground will assist in interview scheduling, preparation, obtaining feedback from both the client and the candidate, talking to candidates not selected, maintaining a finger on the pulse of the candidates who are in process and in general, keeping the process flowing until we reach the offer stage. We are also well versed in presenting and negotiating offers if our clients wish us to do so
